This is an experiment in creating a mass housing typology that can adapt to difficult sites at a replicable scale. The goal is to produce an architectural system that can work across a variety of site restrictions while reducing construction costs and maintaining a unique architectual identity.
The ability to quickly replicate modular elements off site is crucial to reducing building costs, however there is also a responsibility to ensure architectural interest and to avoid placeless monotony.
Set on a long, winding and steep site, I’ve explored a hybrid construction system that would implement prefabricated modular elements over a precast structure with a unique design derived from the site’s constraints. The final architectural expression would be defined by these two systems supporting each other.
